Nasal Cannula

The Nasal Cannula made by Westmed is a standard connector that delivers supplemental oxygen through the nostrils and directly into the airways of patients who need respiratory aid. It is connected via tubing to an oxygen tank or an oxygen generator that produces humidified oxygen to allow better flow through the tubing.

The tube of the nasal cannula is placed behind the ears and its two prongs are placed within the nostrils. These prongs are slightly bent to fit most nostrils easily and more comfortably. Nasal cannulas are often used in place of face masks to allow patients undergoing oxygen therapy to perform normal activities such as talking and eating.

Using a nasal cannula with supplemental oxygen may help prevent hypoxemia, or a deficit in the amount of oxygen needed by the body in order to function normally.

The tubing that comes with this cannula is kink-resistant, so it helps to prevent bends or folds that can block airflow. For increased comfort, the tubing is available in various lengths from 7 to 50 feet.  Chose the appropriate length of the nasal cannula that best suits your needs.
