One very common complaint of CPAP patients is that the therapy causes them to have uncomfortable dry nasal passages.  During natural breathing, the air we breathe is warmed and humidified in the nasal cavity as it passes through our respiratory system.  During CPAP therapy, the constant flow of pressurized air through the nasal passages overwhelms the body’s ability to naturally warm and add moisture to the inhaled air and therefore the nasal passages become dry and irritated.

When using a humidifier with your CPAP equipment, condensation may occur in the tubing when the warm moist pressurized air comes in contact with the cooler temperature in the tubing as it travels to the mask.  This can cause some of the moisture in the air to condense in the tubing.  With Ambient Tracking, the HC150 can adjust the heating pad so that amount of humidity is reduced when the ambient temperature is cooler; this helps to minimize condensation in the tube.
