Designed with all the comfort and flexibility features expected of the Fisher & Paykel Flexifit series, the FlexiFit™ 406 Petite Nasal Mask is specially built for finer and more petite faces. This mask system features the FlexiFit foam cushion, which automatically adjusts and conforms to the user’s facial features for a great fit.
The seal-forming contact surface is made of frosted silicone, which has a soft and smooth feel and is designed to ensure an effective seal. A good mask seal is key to a successful sleep therapy.
Patients that are suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) find it difficult to get adequate sleep because their airways become obstructed while sleeping due to collapsed airway muscles. Their breathing is consequently interrupted, which causes the patient to awaken repeatedly throughout the night.
Airway collapse can be prevented through the application of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). Effective CPAP therapy depends on a stable seal from the mask interface, such as that provided by the FlexiFit mask, to maintain the positive airway pressure.
As the name implies, the FlexiFit mask system is flexible and can be adjusted to allow patient movement. Uniquely designed Glider Straps allow for side-to-side head movement while keeping the mask in place. The StretchGear headgear features an elastic segment that stabilizes the mask against up-and-down head movement. The combination of these two movement-absorbing features gives the Flexifit mask great stability and minimizes the possibilities of leaks caused by the mask being dislodged by movement during the night.
The included headgear is soft and elastic. Velcro straps make fitting adjustments for the headgear convenient and easy. Once the precise fit using the Velcro straps is set, the mask can be easily removed with the one-step glider clips. Using the glider clips to remove the mask preserves the fit settings of the headgear for subsequent use, giving the user a precise fit every time.
Design considerations were made for noise reduction and for comfort of bed partners. Exhaled air is dispersed quietly through the efficient bias diffuser and at an angle away from bed partners.
